China has made an astonishing transformation to a market economy during the past two decades, and nowhere is this change more dramatically expressed than in the visual arts that are flourishing in China today. Examples of this explosion of Chinese contemporary art will be on display throughout October at The Art Institute of Colorado when it presents the CONTEMPORARY CHINESE DESIGN: AN EXPLORATION OF FINE AND APPLIED ARTS. The opening reception is Thursday, October 5. The exhibit will be run from October 9 to 20, 2006. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
This dynamic visual exploration of contemporary Chinese design showcases professional samples of four of China’s premier designers in graphic design, interior design, architecture, industrial design and painting. The Art Institute is pleased to bring this diverse array of creative talent to the Denver community. Design professionals and art enthusiasts should find it educating and inspirational to review the works of these Chinese counterparts.
